Who We Are

Organizing Brooklyn Communities(OBC) is a borough-wide grass roots not-for-profit organization founded in October 2010. Comprised of a network of block and tenant associations, merchant associations and other community based organizations. We are dedicated to empowering people in local communities to address issues that affect the quality of their lives by supporting and implementing programs designed and calculated to improve and enhance the lives of our youth, seniors, and other citizens.

Dear Members/Supporters/Community Residents

Organizing Brooklyn Communities Inc. (OBC) is a new, innovative and unique organization. This organization was founded and incorporated under the State of New York laws in October 2010. After working in the East Flatbush community for the past five years with Block Associations and other organizations, it became apparent for the need of a cohesive organization to represent and advocate for all or most of our communities and organizations within the Borough of Brooklyn.

OBC is a borough-wide community based not-for-profit grassroot service oriented organization comprised of a network of blocks, tenants, merchants, civics, and other organizations. We are empowering people to address issues that affect the quality of their lives, supporting and implementing programs designed and calculated to improve the standard of living of our citizens and residents. We are publicly and privately funded and are governed by a Board of Directors.

We welcome you to become members, supporters, and volunteers of our organization. We need your support financially and your contribution will be greatly appreciated. This will assist us tremendously in accomplishing our goals and objectives. We are located at 1034 Winthrop Street, between 92nd and 93rd Street, Brooklyn NY 11212.
